My 184 is the same as yours. Only a pipe plug on the top and the bottom.
I just drain it and refill it to volume spec every year or two.

That's probably the best solution for me. The plug that you are referring to-is it under the round portion of the housing :?:
the only plug in mine is located there and is a smaller bolt hex-hd cap type.

Yes. Just loosen the hex head bolt enough to let the juice drool out. (it's a messy venture) The threads all have to clear, but I never pull the bolt all the way out.
If you do completely remove the bolt, make sure you put humpty dumpty back together again correctly. (there's a lot of small parts behind there)

Yah that's what I figured going by the exploded view on the IH site. As a matter of fact I printed that out and added it to my service manual-you can never have enough information on these old machines :) That's why I [b]Love[b] this site :{_}:

You drain it from the detent screw hole?

What oil will you use? 90wt or hydraulic hytran?
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

The service manual calls for 1-1/2 pints of Hy-Tran. Section 6-18 so that's what I plan on putting in there.

When I removed the creeper drive from the transmission the oil was the same consistency as the Hy-Tran, it wasn't thick like 90W is.
