Occasional 154 Problem

While mowing with my 154 at about 75% throttle, occasionally the engine will start violently missing. When this happens, I push the throttle to 100% and after a few seconds the engine smooths out and all is well for another hour of mowing. I can't decide if the problem is with the carburetor, the ignition or the governor.

Any thoughts will be appreciated!!

I suspect you have some dirt in the fuel system. Look in the tank and see if you can see "floaties" in the gas. then remove and clean the carb jet.

Check out the fuel bowel and above the fuel bowel in the gas tank. The floaties that BD mentioned can clog the inlet on the gas bowel above the screen. Thats were my problem was. It would stall and restart after a few minutes only to stall again. It finally got worse and stalled and wouldn't start. Thats when i found the problem in the gas tank. (floaties)
