I am replacing the shift forks in my 184. To do this I need to remove the creeper assembly. I don't seem to be able to remove the driveshaft without splitting the tractor. Is there a way to do this?
(I really don't want to slide the engine forward)

Re: 184 Driveshaft Removal
Outdoors,
It has been a while since I did a restoration on my son's 184, so my memory could be wrong. If you loosen all four set screws on the driveshaft universal in front of the creeper gear - it will slide forward almost 2" and then clear the creeper gear input shaft. It may take a lot of PB Blaster soaking, but it will slide ahead. Once the universal is free, if you depress the clutch, the driveshaft should be able to be angled and tied to one side to get the creeper gear assembly out.
I hope this helps, NJ Dale
