What i plan on using is the after market automotive solenoid. There are a lot of cars that used them. They were used on the jeep/AMC and Ford cars for many years. I also think they would be cheaper too.

I been thinking of running the extra full 12v wire to the coil too. This gives the full 12v on the startup from the solenoid and i'd have to use the car coil too.(hotter spark). After start up it goes thru a resistor. (lower amps)
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

You can get a replacement solenoid at Lowes or Home depot or car parts places such as NAPA. They look to be universal.

Take the old solenoid to your auto parts store. They will have a replacement on hand. They will need to know the operating voltage, general mounting configuration and one or two small wire terminals.

Actually there are 9 different wiring schematics for solenoids. Probably several thousand possible combinations of voltages, wiring terminals and mounting configurations.
I have an excuse. CRS.

When the solenoid went south on my 154 I replaced it with the same one that was on my 83 Ford pickup truck. It works fine. Hope this helped.

Maybe this will work. NAPA or Standard Parts PN: ST-85. This solenoid has battery, load, Ignition terminals, and a terminal to hook up a ground or thru interlocks to ground. That should cross to other venders as well.
