Finger travel length on the transmission clutch pack
hey all, was wondering if anybody had any idea on what the length of travel for engaging and disengaging the clutch fingers mine seem to seem to be a little over a 1/4" is this correct? i already have about 3/16" of clearance from the fingers to the thrust bearing so i'm good to go at that point, just wondering if a 1/4" is enough to do the job properly, any info is much appreciated, THANKS

Re: Finger travel length on the transmission clutch pack
are you asking what the "air gap" between the clutch and flywheel should be? Typically the adjustment is in "pedal free travel" GT

i guess what i am trying to say is when the thrust bearing pushes on the fingers when you depress the clutch pedal how far do the fingers "flex" in.

First what tractor do you have?? 154 / 184 / 185 ????
For the 154/185;
It calls for a .090" gap between the clutch fingers and the throwout bearing when the clutch is all the way up. At the sametime
the pucks on the flywheel brake should have a .010" gap according to the manual. This is when the clutch pedal is in the fully up position its the only setting there is for the throwout bearing.

I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

i have a 71 154, just trying to get a general idea of how much those fingers move towards the clutch pack when you depress the clutch lever and the thrust bearing makes contact, just wondering if they are supposed to have a certain amount of flex to do the job.

Re: Finger travel length on the transmission clutch pack
I'm having a problem with my 154 in that when the levers are adjusted to the .090" the clutvh plate does not disengage from the pressure plate. I am thinking bad presuure plate springs.
