44 inch snow plow

Postby prjones » Mon Nov 09, 2009 8:06 pm

I bought a 55 Loboy tractor with 2 snow plows one is the L54 but the other is 44 inches has some of the same parts as the L54. Is this plow for the number series Loboy and if so could someone tell me which one or ones? I have no use for it and will probably try to sell it.

The snow plow for the numbered Lo-Boys was 54" (same blade as the L54). Hard to say what your second one is from.

Could be a Cub Cadet blade.

I would say its a cub cadet blade too. Most of all my fcub and 154 blades are 54". (factory blades) I think there are a few different widths of the cub cadet blades too. My 70 cub cadet came with a narrow IH blade.

thanks for replies. This 44 inch seems it would be heavy for Cadet. Has extension blade on top.
Same pivot bar attachment as Cub blade and bottom spring attachment. but mounted to different frame. That is all I got no way to attach to tractor or hydrualics. Looked at Cadet plows on ebay and they did not look like this.

Look closely at it, I would bet that someone cut down a 54" blade, maybe to plow sidewalks or something. A f-cub or lo-boy would work with a narrow blade, if the tires were all set in at the narrowest setting.

I checked it definatly has not been cut down. The two holes for the shoes are at each end of the plow just like the 54. It is an International 44 inch plow, maybe I will ask in the Cub forum. This cannot be the only one.

I would love to see some pictures. The problem with using a 44 inch snow plow on a standard cub would be that once it was angled it would not reach to the outside edges of the wheels, so they would have one in unplowed snow and other one in the snow piled up by the blade.

There's no such thing as an IH 44" plow. Cub Cadets had 42" and 54" plows. I'll guarantee you that someone cut one down. It's easy to re-drill holes for the shoes. If it has all of the other mounting hardware that's on a 54 blade, then it has definitely been cut down.

Well I rechecked the 2 holes for the shoes and the are square pretty hard to drill square ones and the edges of the blade are perfect would have to been cut by laser. I tried to take pictures yesterday but did not get them on cumputer yet.

Here is the picture Phil sent me. I left it a little large so the details could be seen.

The picture was taken with the blade upside down.

It appears that there are cutting edges both on top and bottom. I guess that is so that if you flip the tractor over you can keep on plowing snow. :D
