First how loose is the new seal? There is a cylindrical loctite #620 that can take a gap to .020". If the seal fits loosely this loctite will secure it. I use this 620 cylindrical loctite on loose OP rod guide blocks on m14's then I add the next size dowel pin.
I hammered the dowel pin in with force trying to move the gas block testing the loctite and it held. Just to test it, most guys just use the loctite by itself.
Do not use a thread locker use the proper cylindrical loctite. I took a course in loctite products when I worked in engineering. If we can get a better seal by cross referencing it? Remember to prelube your new seals with grease. Do not assemble them dry to the crankshaft. All new seals need to be prelubed during assembly.
If your installing a seal with the rubber dry I'll bet my life on its failure or shortened life.

I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
