154 hydraulic question again

Postby JGtools » Thu Mar 04, 2010 7:56 pm

I see that the hydraulic lift cylinder is a single acting cylinder, and the hydraulic control valve is single acting, does this mean when I pull down on the control handle, I have fluid moving at pressure, and causes lift cylinder to extend, but when I raise up on the handle, the pressure in the cylinder line drops, and the lift cylinder pushes the fluid out and lowers, Thanks,Jim

Jim, yes. And, The more weight you have hanging, the faster the cylinder will retract. It may not move that much with nothing hanging to pull it down.

When you pull the lever you move the spool in the valve shutting off the flow of oil through the valve and directing oil to the cylinder causing it to extend.
Whe you push the lever you move the spool opening a path from the cylinder to the reservoir. The cylnder is retracted by the weight of the load and/or spring force.

I notice on all the 154's its all single action cylinders. There's no down pressure like on the fcub's. Its the weight of the attachment or loading the spring pressure more so we have more down pressure on the 154's. There very similair to the 4 way snowplows.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
