Flat rear tire

Postby oojimmyc » Wed Apr 28, 2010 3:09 pm

Hi All,
The right rear tire on my 154 has a slow leak in it. Has anyone ever jacked the tractor up, broke the bead seal and installed a new tube with the tire on the tractor? Any thoughts?
Jim

Eviel Boweviel and Bigdog just did it this week on an "H".

Don't see why it couldn't be done on a Cub. A Cub rim isn't so bad to take off the tractor though.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I have done it many times. Much easier with the rim mounted on the tractor.

Thanks for the pic. I can imagine why their faces are red..Whew! Well, I took a good look at my rear tires, took the tractor down to a large tire center here in Denver. I had some pretty serious cracking going on with the flat tire. They made me a deal of $175.00 each for a new set of field tires and guess what? Yep, I went for it. :{_}: I couldn't believe the price of a new set of turf tires...$354.00 each plus. Sure made the field tires look really good all of a sudden. I probably needed the field tires more where I'll be using the tractor anyways. That squashed my PTO deal with Hamilton Bob for a couple of weeks though. Sort of ran out of cash for now. After watching that 18 year old kid fighting with my tires for about an hour I'm sure glad I didn't do it. I rebuilt the carb yesterday also. Sure runs better. Pertronix ignition next , then the clutch, PTO, etc, etc... :(

Sounds like you're good to go! I'm in Longmont and have a small Cubfest (see # 20): viewtopic.php?f=8&t=47817 You're welcome to attend.

Hi Bob,
Thanks. I'd love to attend. :-:-): What kind of tractor(s) do you have. How many usually attend the cubfest? I have lots of questions. I'm in Arvada. Call me sometime. 303-981-4631
