Good Morning!
Greetings from Eastern long Island, New York. I found this great forum by searching for info about my 154 with 3260 deck. There are very few places or persons left in this area who are knowledgeable about these machines, so I began to search on the web.
Not being mechanically inclined (I am a communications electrician with 40 years' experience, by trade) I rely on friends to help me keep my old tractors going. By reading threads here, going back a year or so, I can see that the issues --both good and bad -- I have are shared by almost all of you: PTO problems, spindle problems, (one guy's story was so close to mine, about the parts going flying all over the lawn, that I thought maybe I had written it) belt problems, crud in the fuel line, and also the joy of mowing when everything is adjusted exactly the way it was meant to be.
It seems I have a 3260 deck. It took me two years to figure that out. Even the local Woods dealer didn't have a clue as to whether it was an IH or a Woods. Now I am on a quest to stockpile spindle repair parts.
I have two 154's. One has a newly-rebuilt engine and PTO clutch assembly, but the body and deck sheet metal are basket cases. The deck is a Woods (I figured that out) that has lots of newer parts, if anyone can use them or wants to trade for IH deck parts. I plan to keep the engine in reserve after parting-out the rest of the tractor.
The second one is cosmetically gorgeous, (repainted, with new tires) has the IH deck, and blows a little smoke, but starts reliably and mows well, when the mood suits it.
I need to find a reliable dealer and/or private expert on Eastern Long Island (or even along the CT coast) who can help me identify and find some parts, get the PTO and deck fine-tuned, and also do an engine transplant, after this summer.
Sorry for the lengthy post. I am just happy to have found you guys and feel a little more comfortable, knowing that I am not alone in the wilderness.
Questions about telephone history, or telephone-related problems that no one can seem to fix are always welcome, by the way.
Cheers,
Arthur

Re: Good Morning!
Welcome! It's nice to find another enthusiast. I am glad that you no longer are feeling alone. Have a look at the member map and you will see what company you are in. http://www.farmallcub.com/membermap/
While not all members have numbered series cub's, many components are shared and enjoyed by all.
Might also want to consider bringing your ride to a cubfest.
Again, Welcome.

Arthur:
As an aside there are a number of communications types in our ranks, from telco techs to military comm specialists etc. including a few spooks.... so welcome to the other club
Also, there are a couple of CubFests every year close to your neck of the woods. I think the closest would be Cecil's in Kinderhook. CubFests are great places to meet other members who get together to socialize, learn stuff and to work on member projects when those projects are available.
to Farmallcub.com Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

Unfortunately, he just missed the really close one for this year, ConnectiCubFest.

Re: Good Morning!
Welcome aboard Arthur,
I have a 154 also. I have had problems now and then. My latest is the lower tranny mount bolts are stripped out. That means a couple of helicoils at the least. Mine also has the 3260 mower deck that is in really good condition. The spindles are good and tight. I could use a set of blades though. Sharpening the ones I have is like trying to sharpen a brick. Hamilton bob's on ebay has some spindle parts for sale right now if your interested. He also has a ton of stuff not listed on ebay. You can call them at 513-582-8424. They probably have everything you'll need. You can also email them at 154fan@gmail.com. I'm still looking for a decent PTO myself. I just had to put new rear tires on so that put the PTO on back burner for a while. Would you happen to have a decent one? I would also like a 3 pt hitch but they're expensive. Anyhow, welcome aboard.

Actually by the time he comes off the island it's about the same distance. There is a minifest here in August and I'm sure we could help you.

Welcome Aboard:
Seeing that Power Wagon brings back many pleasant memories for me of driving those in the Navy, they are quite rugged vehicles.
