Hood Bolts for 154 Cub
What is the size (thread and diameter) of the bolts that screw the hood down to the frame on a International 154 Cub circa 1970? Where is a good place to get some? Following my flagship run around my 8 acres today, I lost 3 of them.

Re: Hood Bolts for 154 Cub
I don't understand. Are you saying you have no idea where to get them? Or, are you giving me dimensions from other tractors?
International Cub 154 Low boy Hood Bolts is what I am looking for. Please confirm.

WestDeerPirate,
A good place to do research is:
www.Messicks.com
1 - Click on the CaseIH logo
2 - Enter Model Number (154)
3 - Superstructure
4 - Hood & Radiator
5 - Item #10 - Hood
6 - Screw 5/16-18 x 5/8" Bevel Washer, 4 needed
Now that you have a pole, line, hook & worm - good luck fishing.

Re: Hood Bolts for 154 Cub
Like I posted before, all the part numbers you need are contained in the TC-131 Parts Catalog Revision 8 Index
Item #10 -- IH Pat # 5/16"-18 x 5/8" Bevel Washer Head Cap 4 req'd
As Dale pointed out, Messicks can be useful as well.
Nothing beats having a hard copy Parts Catalog to that you can flip through it and become familiar with the nuts and bolts of your Cub

WestDeerPirate, you might want to take a wrench and screwdriver to your 154 and make sure everything else is tight and secure....
Good luck,
David

I'm pretty sure he'd either check the diagram or figure it was 5/16" -18
but just to be sure I'll add the correction.

Re: Hood Bolts for 154 Cub
dgrapes - Yup, I was pretty suprised to see that 3 of them had backed out. However, I took the tractor acorss some pretty rough terrain and I just bought it last Sunday so I will have to do a complete once over before I take it out again.
It cuts great.

Re: Hood Bolts for 154 Cub
Hi Pirate,
Welcome aboard. Also check the lower tranny mount bolts (2) They tend to loosen up. Mine were stripped out. Had to heli-coil them. (PITA) Check the bolt that mates the driveshaft to the flywheel. Access that by removing the side panels. Also, while in there, check the bolts on the steering box. Just a few to mention that I found loose on my 154. Good luck.

The 4 bolts that hold the hood on along the sides of the tractor 5/16-18 x 1.00 washer head bolts. The 4 bolts that hold the radiator supports to the frame are 3/8 -a6 X 1.0 with matching flat washers and lock washers and nuts. Hope this helps, if you search and find the Case-IH website then you can search for any http://www.caseih.com/northamerica/Page ... xmachinery that IH mfg.

Hey West Deer Pirate,
I am originally from Hampton Township, just down the road from you in PA and my parents still live there! Work moved me to Wisconsin, but I am still a Pittsburgher at heart!
I actually am planning to be in Pittsburgh the week of June 21 for some work stuff, and would love to get together with ya some evening that week if you are interested. I travel all the time for my job (sales) and hate spending my evenings stuck in a hotel room...I'd much rather be cubbing!!!
