As with car and truck VINs, the later tractors have a bunch of coded up model information in the front part of the serial number. The last 6 digits are the actual sequential number.

Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

I don't have a lot information yet on the Numbered Series Cubs, but I do have a little bit. I have a Jen Sales version of the International Harvester Operator's Manual 184 Cub Lo-Boy which I hope will help.

And as usual, Jim popped in with the data.

Thanks for the Additional Information. This tractor is new to us, the hydraulics and electrical componants are operational. The attachments are somewhat messed-up and will take a few hours to get right.

What options does your tractor have? 3-Point? Creeper?
Implements? Mower Deck? Snowblower? Tiller? Plow?

There are a lot of members probably itching to hear about your attachments. There's a lot of great knowledge (and people) here!

As I read your posts I'm finding out what equipment was available. This Tractor has the IH Snowplow mounted on it. There is a Woods Mower deck that we haven't tried hooking up to. I'm in the process of rebuilding the snowplow. It was well used and welded to a set angle. This 184 has the wide turf tires on the rear as well as wide fronts.

Serial Number 43812 puts you in the 1977 production year, which was the first year for the 184 lo-boys. Serial numbers 43802 was the start of production for the 184, which means that yours was number 10 off of the production line in 1977. Could actually have been built in late 1976, as 1977 tractors would typically have been on showroom floors in late 76. Matter of fact, the 6OCT in your engine stamp could mean October 1976, but I'm just guessing there. I have not seen engine stamp data for the number series engines.
