snow blade and hydraulics question

Hey guys it's been a while but once I got the 154 back to mowing the rain quit around here and didn't get much use this summer. Anyways since we have not got much rain this year I decided it was time to put the blade on. I got it on not a problem and it raised up but now it won't lower down at all.

Should I add some hydraulic fluid to the gear box? Or is it possibly bound up? I stood on it while working the lever and it didn't budge. I have looked around the thing several times and don't see any pinch points or obvious places that would be preventing it from going down.

Hope to get this operational so the snow doesn't come this year I didn't put it on last year and we got more snow in the past 20-30 years so I was told. Thanks in advance.

Something is probably bound up, but you also need stretch armstrong (or an assistant) to help.
1) Make sure your lift lever is in the position for the blade to drop.
2) Make sure the selector valve is not set to the 3-point position (if you have this option)
3) Make sure the tractor is running while trying to set the blade down
4) Stand on blade (should not be necessary, but this system is gravity powered)

I've been reconditioning the blade on my 184, hoping that I won't need it to move much snow. The blade has a center mounted spring, attached between the front lift assembly and the under mount bracket assembly. When the blade is up, this spring is under tension and appears to help gravity move the whole assembly down. Also, does this hydraulic system have a float position or is it just lift and down?

Thanks guys I did find where it was bound up. Not sure if this will be a huge problem in the future but time will tell

My set up (154) does not have a float as far as I can tell. It goes up and down is it. I don't have a 3-point either so maybe those will have the float position. I didn't put the bottom spring on yet so that might help it go down too when I put it on. Just happy I got it on in short order with dry warm conditions

I made up new bushings for the lift arms, and reattached everything using 2 large flatwashers and bolts with self locking nuts to make the linkage secure but not tight.

Answering my own question about the 184 Hydraulics and a float position. This 184's hydraulic control arm had a cotter pin in the shaft to the control valve which was a loose fit, but allowed the controls to work up and down. I replaced the cotter pin with a roll pin. The control lever will stay in the forward position and the blade floats. Return it to the center position and the blade stays in that position.
