Food for thought:

I learned something on my second non running int154. It had rattle so the PO rebuilt the engine and ran it. it still had the rattle when he took the engine apart again to try to find the noise. I noticed after i purchased the non running parts 154 that the driven pulley on the pto shaft was rounded out at the bore making the rattle noise. This tells me we need to watch how much we tention the twin drive belts on the PTO driver pulley's. It may not be the engine or other things sometimes, it maybe something else making the rattle. I do accept these are old machines and most of them were run hard with little maintenace but when there running right they will serve us well. Bill

Go reminder. I ruined a 90* gearbox input shaft for the snowblower on my 129 by running the belt too tight. That was an expensive lesson.

It looks like the main problem is the rear pressure plate fits very loose on the transmission input shaft and that the hole is slightly elongated. The holes for the roll pin look good though. The pilot bushing is pretty worn, and the plate could stand to be resurfaced. So it looks like I need to bush the rear to get a better fit to the transmission shaft, change the pilot bushing and re surface the clutch disc wear surface. I will see what the shops around here want to do the work that needs to be done. I have found used parts but am assuming they will have some of the same issues.

Ok I just saw a used rear pressure plate where they slotted the opening for the transmission input shaft and put a bolt through it to tighten things up. It's a bit jack leg perhaps but might be a pretty simple solution. Any body here done this before?

Hamiltonbobscubs.com has new rear flywheels. If that is rocking , the input shaft may be worn too. He has all these parts new. Just did mine. Fun stuff!

my 69-154 has a bolt (no roll pin) through the rear flywheel
