two 154 questionshi what position is the rear cylinder in when you put the cyl lock device on all the way up /down/or middle!!! im making it so, thats y im asking ,,need to no spacing of the 2 holes aprox,,,and has anyone installed a tack on the 154 fairly easy...thanx steve
Re: two 154 questionsI believe that the lock mechanism is supposed to only work when the arms are all the way up, so I'm not sure if that means the cylinder is fully extended or closed (never have looked that closely), but the only way it would make sense is with the 3-point arms all the way up.
There was a tach made for the earlier Cubs, but finding one now is difficult and very expensive if you do find one. It ran off of a gear in the distributor. I think that you could use an electronic tach with a digital display, it would just take some playing with to get the calibration correct. They're really just not that necessary with a Cub engine, since it only runs at about 2000 rpm at wide open throttle. 1951 Farmall Cub, Cub Cadets 102, 104, 1811, 1864, Simplicity Legacy XL 4x4 Diesel with FEL, 60" mower, 50" Tiller
Re: two 154 questionsLook at the pictures in the Owners Manual with it insalled. Looks like it is most of the way down, within an inch or so of the cylinder fully retracted.
Re: two 154 questionstractor runs good just wanted to see if its rpms are at what they should be,, seems kinda low.. on the lock if i use it, will it speed up the front or no.hopefully some one has one laying around to measure. hate to pay 28 bucks for something i can make in 5 mins out of scrap im tripping over thanx for input so far..steve
Re: two 154 questionsKawman,
See the attached picture - you should be able to estimate the locks length. The length is really not that critical, you can make it longer if you want the 3 point to sit at a higher elevation. Sorry that I can not measure it - my son lives 2,000 miles away and he is away on travel all week. Hope that the pic helps you, NJDale
Re: two 154 questionsthank you...steve
Re: two 154 questionsYes, using the lock should speed up the front cylinder, essentially forcing all of the fluid to go only to the front cylinder.

Re: two 154 questions
Re: two 154 questionsActual distance between centers is probably not too important just that it is locked somewhere. The oil will fill the void and the other cylinder will work just fine. It's a closed system so my guess would be that you would want to lock the 3 pt in the up position for the best result.
