I have a replacement used input shaft that came with the bearing on the shaft,I was thinking I should remove this bearing and install a new one, Taking the bearing off the shaft is easy enough, but what is a good method to install the new bearing with out damage? Bearing in the picture is the one I would like to remove and install a new one. thanks,JIM

Jim,
To install a new bearing without damaging it, you must 'push' on the inner bearing race. Usually, a 4" piece of pipe that just slips over the shaft but still rides on the inner bearing race edge will do. Sometime a deep well socket that just slips over the shaft will also work. It is really a matter of hunting around the junk pile for something with just the right ID and OD (it takes longer to find the right size 'tool' than to actually press the bearing back on).

Thanks Dale. I think I found a heavy bushing that might work, I will try after lunch. Jim
