Main metering jet

Postby Born1928 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:30 pm

I believe I have tracked the engine running problems on my 154 Lo Boy to the main metering jet on the installed Zenith carbuetor. The carb is obviously a retrofit form the OEM IH carb. I'm not sure it's the same as the 68YYT Zenith pictured in the shop manual. For instance, the shop manual calls for a size 21 jet. The one in my carbuetor is a #19. Looking at the orifice the diameter seems too small to effectively pull fuel from the float bowl. Of course, since I am not an expert on carburetors I could be wrong. I have looked over the various sites concrning parts for the Zenith and it looks almost impossible to purchase a main metering jet alone. My carbuertor has been cleaned thoroughly and I do not believe I need an entire carbuetor repair kit. Any sources members may know of?

If you can't find the jet you could do a little research and find out what the correct "numbered" size drill bit is and just drill the old one out.
