Folks:

Normally I only use Case Akcela Hy-Tran or Ultra Hy-Tran but this past fall I changed my mind a bit. Mostly because I had to ensure that the Hydraulic Fluid I was using - which was Case Akcela Hy-Tran was compaitble with my brother-in-laws Massey-Ferguson 1040 because of my Splitter Project. Found out that the MF needed at least MS-1210 and that all MS-1210 fluids met or exceeded MS-1209.

For our Cubs - any of the different versions IH requires that we use an MS-1209 Hydraulic Fluid. That is the important part - make sure that the whatever brand of Hydraulic Fluid you use it meets or exceeds MS-1209 criteria. So as in the case of my dual use requirement I found out that M-F Perma-Tran is compatible with a Cub Hydraulic system. So.. read the label on the product you are looking at. Don't rely on hearsay, simply read the side panel as to what the compliancy is for that particular product. If you can get a deal at Wally World on hydraulic fluid and it meets or exceeds MS 1209, then go for it. It is your money, your Cub .. so you get to make the final decision on what product you use. Just be informed and get the right stuff. Remember MS-1209

Thanks Rudi

I purchased the Hy-tran fluid from NAPA. It meets MS-1209 & B-6 specs. Thanks for all your help!
