IH 154 CUB LOBOY Hyrraulics system bleedingI have an IH CubLoBoy model 154. The main Hydraulic System will not lift more than an 1/8" when on a level surface. When I set the tractor on an 45 degree incline the Mower deck wil raise/lower. The system fluid was changed prior to purchasing this tractor. How do I get the system bleed and filled properly....I have tried everything. I believe the pump is ok? Henry

G'day to you, and I wish I could help with bleeding the hydraulics but I am not familiar with the 154 Hydraulics system. However, I do have some of the manuals available on the server. - Cub-154 Lo-Boy - Owner's Manual, TC-131 Parts Catalog Revision 8 and the I&T IH-38 1974 Edition Complete. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope this helps. Re: IH 154 CUB LOBOY Hyrraulics system bleedingTo bleed the system you just need to cycle the hydraulics fully a bunch of times. All the way up, All the way down, over and over again. It may take about 10 minutes of doing this, but eventually it will bleed out. The negative side of this is that the down position is not a hydraulic pressure down, so you are relying on the weight of the mower deck to compress the cylinder. If things are bound up or rusty sometimes going down takes quite a while, and/or if it is bound up, it may not be going fully down.
Also, check the depth stop on the left side of the tractor. big 3/4" bolt about 6-inches long that threads down next to the frame near your left foot. Here is a picture; ![]() This is how you set your height of cut, so every time you let the mower down it stops at the same point. If it is set for a hight cut, you are probably not letting the cylinder down very far at all. The bolt acts as a stop against the rockshaft, limiting the rotation, and thereby stopping the mower deck from lowering. I know that when I set mine up for mowing, the mower actually only drops about 1/4", because I like a really high cut. However if you back this bolt out, the mower deck will drop right to the ground. Re: IH 154 CUB LOBOY Hyrraulics system bleedingIs the pump screaming like its not primed?? Did you change the hydraulic filter?? If the pump is screamimg it maybe air bound, so you may have to remove the hydraulic filter and prime it thru the filter block. Then its a matter of cycling the hydraulics and keeping the tranny filled with hydraulic fluid.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
Re: IH 154 CUB LOBOY Hyrraulics system bleedingWelcome aboard, Henry!
The fact that it will work on an incline but not on the level suggests to me that it does not have enough fluid in the system. Have you checked the fluid level?
