Counterclockwise rotation. Low idle is listed at about 390 rpm, high idle listed at 1970 rpm.
That's what's listed in the owners manual under "specifications". With it being on a separate shaft,I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as engine RPM. Guess that would depend on the pulley sizes.

From an earlier post a few threads down...
Although I've never measured them, I suppose it's the offset pulley setup that slow the PTO down a bit from engine RPMs.
PTO speeds on a 184 and 185 are 2050 and 1880 rpm at high idle and under load.
PTO speed on a 154 is 1970 and 1800 rpm, high idle and under load....
