154 Creeper

Today I finally got the clutch and throw out bearing into the Lowboy. I was very pleased that it moves right out with no problems...until I tried to engage the creeper...then nothing. The tractor goes good in high gear but nothing in low. I figure I will be removing the creeper gearbox but I have two questions..

Am I better off pulling the entire transmission/final drive or just remove the creeper gearbox out the front?

Any Ides as to what the problem could be?

Did you try letting up the clutch a tad to engage the creeper with the tranny in gear? Sometimes the geat teeth can be hitting each other and she won't engage. The creeper tranny can be removed when the clutch and flywheel are removed.

My creeper gets "in between" gears as well. Not a big problem. I put the tractor in neutral, let off the clutch slightly while giving gentle pressure to the creeper shift rod and it slides right into gear. Having the tractor in neutral minimizes the strain on the gears to mesh.
