Ive been reading about ID'ing my 154. No plate, engine cast of 10 31 P, #FCUBM 272909. Im guessing its a 69 by the blue stripe on the hood and cast number. Or am I wrong and is it a 70? Ive read 70 started with a black stripe. Were the big balloon tires offered any year? Thanks for the help.

That engine was most likely used after the first of the year.

The 154's had the thinner turf tires or field tread tires. The tires and rims were probably replaced.

The high floatation tires were available on any of the number series lo-boy tractors, regardless of year. Narrow turf tires and ag tires were also available. I've seen production/marketing photos of a VERY early 1968 154, with wide turf tires, and a hand-lift for the implements, instead of hydraulic lift. I've never seen one of the number series tractors in person with a hand lift. So, regardless, those wide turf tires were available right at the beginning of the line.

Mine had the year soldered on a plate on top of the radiator.
