I am getting ready to rebuild my carb on my 185 loboy. Everyone on here seems to talk about IH or zenith carbs. My carb says Bendix on it. Anyone run into that variation yet.

Steve:

Bendix carbs are not normal for IH Cubs.

I tore the carb off today..and the side facing out says Bendix...but the side of the bowl facing the tractor says zenith. Go figure...Tried to find a model number on it but no luck. I will get a picture later. Camera issues.

The 'Zenith' carb was used on a lot of different machines and was standard on yours. The trick is the information is on a tag that often goes missing. Parts are available from a dealer (C&G on the bottom of the page). I don't know the difference (if any) but it is in the Cub parts manual, they were standard on the long stripe Cub.

Yep Rudi, that's the page. I will try to remember to take a look at the one on the 77, if I recall there is a small aluminum tag held on by one of the 4 (or 5, depending on the model) screws that hold the two halves together. I also have one on the Lo Boy.

In my opinion it's a great carburetor. The one thing I have noticed is it's a bit more touchy when the engine is cold than an IH is. But the upside is it's pretty trouble free. And the inlet (part #2) is replaceable. Though not cheap, it was $24 now it's $48.55!!!

Hello, looks like we are in the same place. I have a 1975 185 that has been sitting idle for 30 years. Carb is a Zenith 13781 it says bendix on the front and Zenith on the back but on top of the carb in front of the fuel inlet the number 13781 is stamped into the aluminum. Value Bilt has a Kit for around 20 bucks. Good luck! http://www.valu-bilt.com/product_info.p ... m_number=A 604103
