Neighbor's are having a lot of difficulty with their 5 year old Simplicity so I helped them by mowing their yard for the first time this year. I have mowed my lawn 3 times this year. Their grass was tickling the front axle on the 184 with the turf tires on.
Stalled the tractor on the first pass in first gear. Had to back down the groundspeed to creeper gear in some places.
The lawn now looks like it is ready for the hay baler, but it's at least manageable for them.
Even though the old tractor needed to go slow in the deep stuff, the 3160A and 184 did a great job with the lawn haircut. I am often suprised at how well these numbered series loboy tractors do.

Re: Mowing Performance
I am getting ready to mount my mower under my 154 and am glad to hear they work good. I got the tiller hooked on mine this spring and I can vouch for it working great.

Re: Mowing Performance
Grass got ahead of me again this year. Previously would use the WD Allis and brush hog type trailer mower to knock the grass down. This year, first time mowing with 154 and 3260 belly mounted mower. Works great. Frequently mowing in 3rd gear, creeper in low. Really nice having 6 gears forward.
I have an excuse. CRS.

A full tune up with valve adjustment and sharp blades really wakes up an old Cub

Re: Mowing Performance
The 184 is feeling really good as it is on its second season since an engine rebuild. New dome top pistons, rings, turned crank, rod & main bearings & adjusted valves.
It also got a pertronix ignition upgrade and a timing adjustment as well.
Freshly sharpened blades and a properly adjusted mower deck also help the situation.

Re: Mowing Performance
My restoration got rushed last summer as the home depot cub cadet dad bought blew up and my friend's wheel horse down the street refused to be fixed. Grass never got super tall but I did try it at cutting a 4ft tall section of berry bushes and green briers that wasnt maintained. It did awesome but needs low range to control the speed better than my left foot. Stalled it once on the hill
