generally speaking how high can these mowers cut?

OK. Gotta know which mower, how mounted, which tractor and if trailer type mower.

On 154 Cub Low-Boy with 3260 deck, guessing around 6 inches. Standard Cub with mid mounted Mott flail mower around 6 inches.

duh! yea i guess that would help.
Hows about a 184 with the 3260?
or some aplicable belly mower remember this is just a rough estimate.

Jim, I couldn't find a manual for the 3260 on the forum, but hopefully someone that has one will answer. You'll also need to take into account the diameter of the tires you have on your 184 as that could make a difference of several inches.

As of right now i dont own a cub however i am looking at next spring.
I do not like the big fat slicks they call lawn tires
i think i intend to get a 184 with a belly mower but its primary purpose will be to carry me around to anything within 2-3 miles.
I will use it to do some farm chores like mowing tilling and dragging around chicken pens on any big open spots,but any thing serious will go to younger men and a massy

6 3/4 inches height on 154 with 3260. There is still 2 to 3 inches between the top of the mower deck and oil pan - as I have the mower set up. The 154 has big fat turf tires.

There is a cross member on the mower mounting brackets that the belt has to run under. Thought about the cross member driving in from mowing. Didn't think to check mower belt clearance if deck was raised higher than my setting.

Curiosity question. Why do you want to know the cutting height? Been cutting grass, frequently damp to wet grass, as tall as the hood on the 154. It takes 2 or 3 mowings to get a decent looking cutting. Edit: Once the grass has been knocked down and dry - one cutting makes a decent to good looking mowing.

Ground speed on the 154, 3rd gear is listed as 8.4 MPH.

If you are considering a tiller for a numbered Cub Low-Boy, you will need one with creeper gear.

Might consider a standard Cub for the tasks listed. Standard Cubs are usually less expensive, will do the same tasks, and more equipment is available. Numbered Cub Low-Boys, not a lot of equipment built or designed for them.

Would not want to mow over 4 inches tall except to knock down overgrown grass/weeds. If you want 4 inch grass, then mow before grass is 6 inches tall. Would help if we knew what you were wanting to do.

RTV (rough terrain vehicle). Local farmers use them for just about anything. I followed one down the highway at 50 MPH.

Fuel economy wise, farm tractors are not efficient when used for transportation. Cub's use some where between 3/4 to 1 gallon per hour. 6 mph on a standard Cub, traveling 6 miles round trip, would equal 3/4 gallon of gasoline at $3.50 a gallon. $2.60 give or take a bit. Cheaper to drive the pickup.

I will have a creeper gear or no purchase.
Tractordata.com has 10 mph listed,any disagreements? please state tire size.
8 mph is fine at 10 I will back off.
Older cub sugestion; I just dont like the looks.

RTV or ATV; NO. the police here hate them and will harass beyond the law.we have way to many dead from it, But very few tractor deaths.
I did reach the edge of total disgust a few days ago and I started the MiniMo and attached the dogs trailer and we went for ice cream soda and pizza [ and yes onions make him gassy so no onions on his half.
When\if I buy a 184 I will use it to check the mail every day [ to far to walk]
I will also intall NEW tires after the 184 has proven itself,they will be solid foam rubber.
Buzz saw mounted on 3 point may use pto or pony engine.
Lumber saw mounted on 3 point WILL use pony engine.
Brush hog mounted on front WILL use pony engine.
We will also have a drum under cover on the back that will swing chains that impact and rape the ground and will over time lower the small peices of shelf rock that extend up near the surface.This plus over seeding by massive amounts will help us reclaim pasture now lost to weeds without resorting to chemcals
This will be a pony powered device.
The tractor itself and all pony engines will have propane coversion IF possible.
I dont expect geound cleaeance to be an issue because I wont drive in a furrow or in a canyon.
For those time when a tractor is needed we will use a massy or bigger

I've got just the tractor for you. It's a 154, it does have creeper drive, a Woods 59 Belly mower, and a 3-point hitch. Runs good but could use a full tune up. I'm trying to sell it now, but I'm a bit of a hike from you. Not out of the question for Cub Express though.

Hey danover the foam is quite springy they will adjust the foam density to the equivelent psi rating I ask for.
New tires because the foam is very expensive and it would be a shame to have tires rot off while the foam is fine.

Thank you for the offer and it does have the basic equipment I desire how ever its not a 184.
One other item I will be a stickler on is the valve that separates the 3 point from the mower deck lift.
I am also looking for some one near me to do a total rebuild, piston over bore, crank regrind not at all a paint queen.
Please feel free to expound on "Cub Express"???
I have spoken with a man near Cincinatti who does the 185's about purchasing a total 184 rebuild from him his results with a total dissasembly were visually impressive but i did not see any pictures of the engine or transmission open.
I dont remember anything about the block being acid flushed but he may have [ it was a long list]
I do intend to USE it occasionally, barn keep it,and drive it every day.
I also intend to change fluids at a very increased rate to maintain internal parts in a very clean state.
Any sugestions on potential rebuilders will be greatly appreciated.

Oh yea, this one has the diverter valve and it's working properly, you just cannot see it in the picture.

Cub Express is a listing here in the Classifieds section, where you can post a request for someone to move an item for you. There are so many folks on here traveling all the time, that you can often find someone willing to move just about anything, for little or no cost if they're already headed a certain direction. I actually moved a flail mower from a Cub to Mike in Arizona. I took it from here in Buffalo, NY to Ralph's in Kentucky, Ralph took it up to Red Power Roundup in Missouri that year, and Mike met him there. That's Cub Express!

Im afraid my level of trust is way to low for me to use that service.
Do you feel the 185 has any benefit over the 184?
