UPDATE: I have the manifold off now by using a common wrench but moving it a teeny bit at at time. Seemed like it took forever but I did get it off. I purchased at auto zone a device to spin the valves with and some compound to grind them. Actually they do not look all that bad. With the head and oil pan off now, my brother (who is actually a mechanic) will be over later this week to take the pistons out and do the valve work. For a non mechanical person like myself this is a learning experience. I am enjoying the work on the tractor. I still have not checked out the steering gearbox to see what the deal is with it. I noticed that the bolt on the right side does not go through the frame and the box is supported only by the left side bolt, so moves some as the steering wheel is turned. I need to see if the right side one is broken off or the nut came off and the box some way just moved to the left enough to let the stud come out of the frame. So far, other than the engine overhaul, the steering box bolt and a new ball joint are the only things about the tractor that I have discovered that needs fixing' I will post more as I progress on the 185 rebuild.
