Basic answer is yes. Depends on how your 154 is currently plumbed for hydraulics and intended hydraulic function.

My 154 has two diverter valves on the pan in front of the operator's seat. The 154 has a 3-point, mid mounted mower, and a set of hydraulic snap couplers located on the right cowling. I have not tried to hook anything to the snap couplers so not sure how they are controlled.

Depending on the diverter valve position, the mower or 3-point are controlled by the single spool valve, the lever on the right front of operator's station.

Hmm was looking if there was a port on the valve that I could loop in spool, then have it return to the tranny through the fill or another port. Kind of like the by pass block on the touch control, I know they have very little to nothing in common though...

The service manual, hydraulics section has pictorials of two different hydraulic plumbing layouts. But the service manual does not show the plumbing layout with diverter valves.

A second spool valve could be added by changing some of the hydraulic lines. It would take a bit of study on your tractor's hydraulic system to figure out how to add the 2nd spool valve. There is a bypass port on the spool valve installed on the tractor. Your 2nd spool valve could be added/connected to the bypass port.

My next thought. On my 154, there is hardly any excess room/space to add anything under the cowling.

Eugene that's what I think as well, was going to mount everything external with just additional lines. Doing all this so my near 70 year old father doesn't have to get on and off to tilt the blade. Ill have to do some tinkering it seems.

I didn't look that close on any of mine,---but the 154 does have 3-pt, BUT,---the bottom rockshaft is regulated by a lock bar on the 3-pt. ---no other valves/possible connecting points on the tractor.
on the 185's all the lines are rigid steel with odd threads on the fittings.so that would mean replacing/converting them to regular standard hoses, (1-wire is plenty, no need for the 2-wire stuff), then you MIGHT be able to figure where to hook into for external valve. ( a very expensive conversion,not CP and just my opinion NOT worth the expense/trouble, but should work!)thanks; sonny

If you take the return line from the 154 valve-put that into the inlet of the spool valve and hook the out let of the spool valve back on the 154 vale retun line to the trans ,you are set for the spoolvalve use.

I can't visualize the set up. You will have to sketch out a hydraulic fluid flow diagram.

On simple hydraulic systems the hydraulic fluid must flow through one control valve to the 2nd and to the 3rd control valve, etc.. Depending on the set up you can operate one or more control valves at a time.

What you can't do is divide the fluid flow prior to the control valves. What will happen is that the fluid will flow through the open control valve, and none go through the closed control valve.

I found a picture of the valve on ebay. If you look at where the inlet line from the pump comes it its a 'T' I was thinking of taking that out and adding a 4 way? or maybe not?

Don't really know the answer. One thing to consider in your hydraulic system schematic, e-bay image, the odd round shaped item on top of the control valve is the circuit relief valve.

you cannot tee into your power line coming into your valve because you lose pressure. , the diverter valve in front of the seat is in service only when the control lever is pulled. your best way is your pressure line from the pump to the spool valve and then back to your tractor control valve, or from your control valve out to your spool valve. That way with a rubber hydraulic line, in which you can get any size or connection you want, and mount the valve anywhere youwant it. Just remember to hook your return back in. This way you willnot alter the use of you 154 valve in any way.

One thing I didn`t think of was
go through you 154 valve first, that way you still use the relief valve in the system to protect your pump.

Now you all have me confusticated. :lost:

I don't understand why you couldn't add another valve (like the one shown above) in parallel with the current valve?
1) There is enough room to put a second valve below the original.
2) The second valve would have all the same safetys as the original. (Because it is the same part)
3) Tying into the line from the pump would be easiest at this location with a couple of Tees.
4) The return line from the cylinder would just tee into the rubber line going into the transmission.
5) Another handle could be added below the original that could be lengthened to avoid interference between the two handles.
As long as both weren't activated at the same time, the system would never know each other exist. If they were both activated at the same time, then they both would move unpredictably. (depending on pressures in each cylinder)

Why can't this be done?????
