Repair 154 main drive clutch pressure plate

Would like to know if the pressure plate springs and fingers can be replaced without removing the pressure plate from the tractor - disc looks ok --wanting to be Lazy

After looking at the manual I don't see any reason you couldn't.

IMO, I wouldn't do it. Take the time to pull it apart and at least replace the throwout bearing while you're in there. These are typically the biggest problem for clutch life. The compression springs don't wear out and a little slop in the fingers is normal. The cost for a clutch kit is very reasonable when you look at the life expectancy.

Do the job right and you won't be going back to do it again for a long time. This is the best way to ensure you can be lazy in the future! :lol:

My number #3 154 had two rusted broken pressure plate springs. But what I thought were worn splines on the driveshaft turned out to be worn splines in the clutch disc. I replaced everything. I figured to do it right once or skimp and do it twice?
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
