got to the ''bottom'' of it finally

got a wild hair today and yanked the distributer.

had to soak the dust cover edge to get it loose and fun begins
by the time I got to the bottom [inside] were the mechanical advance unit sets there was a tea spoon of rust, sand and ''other'' corruption inside.
I cant even believe the 185 even ran.
it looks like it was 1/2 full of water at one time.
that's were the corrosion line stops.

so any ways the cup is all cleaned out and starting tomorrow
each part will be cleaned and reassembled .

so far there are no broken parts and the 2 springs are fine
it was the dirt that was keeping the mechanical advance unit from working.

today's update;

got it back together and had to replace the points, the ones that were in the ''spare parts kit''were the wrong ones.
picked up the right ones, got them installed and fired her up.
WOW what a difference.
smooth it out at all speeds.
at idle you can almost count the fan blades going by.

ran it for a wile then engaged the blower,no struggle at all, the governor kicked in just like it is supposed to.

side curtains installed so now just need to add SNOW

thank you for all the help figuring this out.
