made some great headway today on the 185

the parts came in today for the distributor.
upgraded it with the electronic ignition kit.
WOW it started right up and purred
[its never done that sense we got it].
run it up to full power and got caught up in clearing snow.

lol.....my experience this past week upgrading to elec ignition was the same.....I should of done it a while ago!!

the electronic upgrade is a huge plus indeed. I love mine.
I use the flame thrower coil too and gap the plugs at .030 instead of .023.

That's the way I would go if I was not 6V negative ground. May do that to the "Moneypit" when/if I get it running.

found out today that the distributor on the 185 is not the original part,its off another tractor [IH super C,H or M]
it does not match the picture in the service manual and the new bushing is different from the current one.
the spark plug wires are tight against the oil filter can [no room].
it runs great for now [get's us threw the winter].
any way sense saturday we have knee deep snow were we cleared, 5-8'' more on the way tomorrow and the temp down to -4 this week [the real test]LOL
