New throttle cable...

Postby jsosbe » Sat Mar 26, 2016 10:53 am

Ok next problem... I installed a new throttle cable and now I cannot get it to stay at full throttle... I can tighten the bolt up to the point it stays up... but for one, it's so stiff you can barely move the throttle lever.. and for 2, it loosens back up... the old throttle did the same thing. Looks like the governor has the right return spring.. Orhan that I'm stumped. Thanks ahead of time.

With the throttle cable disconnected does the lever part number 11 move freely and full range on the shaft part number 12? If not, you will need to lube it well with a penetrating oil, maybe even remove and clean it all up, neversieze it and reassemble. The lever must move freely for it to work. The picture is for a FCub but it works the same. A word of CAUTION: the lever is cast so don't get too forceful with it. Stan

Well, I originally had a lock washer with a single nut on it... that I put in instead of the machine screw and lock nut that came with the throttle assembly because it was metric. I replaced it with a 1/4 -20....lesson learned...i double nutted it and it seems to be holdng now. If I would have just left it alone and used the machine screw and lock nut that came with it, I wouldnt be typing this. LOL. Thanks for your help!
