Cub 154 clutch r&r

Postby cub154er » Tue Mar 29, 2016 9:22 pm

After many years of use (and sitting) my clutch has finally failed. Got a new plate, disc, throwout assy, and clutch brake nubs. Not sure if i need to move the motor for my model. Will post serial and photo.

looks like i have the a&i plate and disc, and steiner clutch brake linings and throw out bearing with grease sleeve casting. 027630 is my serial number. not sure if this is a late model and if i need to move the motor forward to do the clutch. also, this clutch didnt come with an alignment tool, not sure if i can make one

Typically the blue/black stripes on the hood mean its a newer one and not one of the later 154s (blue stripe) so you should not have to move the engine... especially if its 1973.. the driveshaft should slide into the flywheel.

Hello! (VERY new here)... also ordered replacement clutch for a 154 & uncertain how to remove the fly-wheel. Serial is older than yours (024821, a 1972)... curious if you need to remove the housing on the back (& get under the seat) to do the clutch work? Thanks for any help!

Sunday is the big day for tearing into it. We got a copy of the Blue Ribbon manual, so we will follow the steps. The manual says that the cutoff for late model is U 018709. The instructions in section 4-9 to 4-13 dont mention flywheel removal. We will probably give it a once over with fine sand paper

I will probably be to your advantage to remove the seat and platform, if nothing else just to give you more room to work (there is only like a dozen bolts). I dont think you will need to move the engine. Its not a matter of removing the flywheel or not, but whether you have to slide the engine forward or if you are able to just move the driveshaft forward.
