Coil and or condenser. Might as well do a complete engine tune up.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Might be good idea to also clean carb/tank/lines too while your at it, but as Eugene says complete tune-up shoul get you going quicker! thanks; sonny

Sounds like a fuel or air flow restriction.
Do the easy things first. Make sure you have a good steady flow of fuel to the carb and verify the carb inlet screen is clean.
Replace the air filter if you haven't done this in a while. At $30 per air filter, it is an easy piece of maintenance that gets ignored.

Complete tune up including compression tests????????

Since tractor runs, timing light to check ignition timing included in the complete tune up.

In initial post you said tractor loses power then cuts out. Does tractor sputter, cough, then die or does the tractor slowly loose power then just die?

Edit 24 hours after above post. The fuel shut off valve on the sediment bowl has to be turned completely out until it stops, when starting the fuel flow.
