184 PTO CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT

Postby bmc440 » Fri May 26, 2017 2:44 am

My 184 pto clutch will not always engage when I flip the switch, but my ammeter shows the clutch coil is energized. After enough on and off tries it will engage!
Is there an adjustment to fix this?

Thanks
Bob Mc

There is an adjustment for the electric clutch. Open the left side panel (clutch pedal side) and look at the electric PTO clutch. There are 4 bolts with springs that hold the clutch pack together. Count the threads that are exposed on the end of each bolt. (important if you need to just put it back). Tighten each bolt by 1/2 turn and try it out. If still unreliable, tighten each bolt 1/2 more turn. Don't tighten any further than needed.
If you tighten them too far, the clutch won't release.
