Mower Deck

Postby roblee3rd » Wed Sep 20, 2017 6:45 pm

How can I find a list of IH mowers used for the 154. The one I just got is supposed to have a heavy duty 42" deck. I don't see any tags or info but the deck needs a new pulley and wedge retainer. I am kind of jumping the gun because I haven't even picked it up yet. I am just going off of the info given to me by the seller.

Thanks,
Bobby

Now that you have 2 posts you should be able to look at the manuals at the Quick Links tab, top left corner of this page. There's quite a few mowers listed there both IH and aftermarket.

Woods 42 (deck) is a common mower under standard and numbered Low Boy Cubs, the 154.

I don't know what a wedge retainer is, and I've been doing this for over 60 years.

Depending on the make, model of the mower deck, parts are still available, but often expensive.

Welcome and best of luck with your purchase.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Thanks, I will try to get a picture of it this weekend. The owner stated that the pulley is cast iron and it has an insert which sits in the middle of the pulley and attaches it to the shaft. It is the insert which is broken.

Replacement insert is called a "taper lock bushing" and is available at most industrial mill supply sellers. Best to take the old one with you when you go looking. Browning is one manufacturer.
