Farmall Cub

A local farmer, 23 years old, was killed Monday when his tractor (with all the correct warning signs and lights) was hit from behind by a truck. Be careful guys, when driving on the roads. It is especially dangerous in our area with all the hills and curves. You can come upon a tractor in a split second. A slow moving Cub is no match for a speeding vehicle with an idiot at the wheel.

Vince - that is sad indeed. It is no surprise that nearly all accidents like this are caused by the other driver rather than the tractor operator.

two of my grandsons mow the local pol yard and use my cub and pull a trailer with the cub cadet and weedeater on it i have the triangle reflector on the tailgate and i follow them the mile from our house to the pool with four ways flashing and we have been almost sideswiped horns blown at us and even a finger or two everyone is in a hurry or just inconsiderate of others.

New York now requires flashing lights on slow moving vehicles as well as the SMV sign. I picked on up from Northern Freight.

Real sad so young

A young local farmer was pulling his corn planter in front of my house on Monday and was hit from behind by a woman in a SUV. No injuries an just a little damage to the SUV and planter.

I see this alot on roads by me, in the middle of FARM country. I have SMV signs on my cub and my small firewood trailer and still see cars not being courteous and caring enough to move over alittle when they pass. It's almost like they're afraid to cross the center line. There won't be any oncoming cars and people still won't move over to go around. I also have noticed age doesn't seem to matter, I've seen new drivers and very old drivers doing the very same thing, being in a hurry and not caring about anyone but themselves. They aren't talking on a cell phone, so this must just be their way of life. I now have a mirror on my cub so when I notice someone with this practice, I make sure they make eye contact with me as they pass and they know how I feel. This whole topic also makes me conscious when I'm the driver.

Maybe if people would realize that the person in/on the SMV provides most of what they eat, they would be more considerate

NAH, they get their food at a grocery store, not from a farmer.
