texting

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Sat Jan 08, 2011 10:25 pm

This is a message from AT&T about texting and driving, if you know anyone who does this, try to get them to watch it. Most will just day they know what they are doing and ignore it, but if just one pays attention it is worth the trouble.

It is now against the law here in Ma. tough to enforce though. But it is a start.

They got my attenttion when they passed FEDERAL RULE on CDL holders its a $ 2450.oo fine if your caught. And a DOT officer can ask to see your phone and it shows text activity while log book shows you driving your BUSTED.

If you think texting does not distract you there was a clip for security cameras in a PA. mall of a woman texting as she walked through a mall and fell face first into a fountain.

I remember seeing a semi truck a few months ago on the interstate that was weaving in and out of the emergency lane and I was afraid to pass him. He finally straighted up for a bit so I went rolling by him and he was trying to text while driving his rig!

I can't afford a $2450.00 fine. Not only that, but I value MY LIFE and the lives of those around me enough that I'm not taking the chance.

If its THAT important, then stop at the next exit and give them a call.

My company has NO texting policy and they enforce it. Our on board Qualcomm units are set so you must stop and set parking brake before you can read or send text on them. Dispatchers who call you on cell phone must first ask you if you are comfortable talking in your present location and situation. If you say no they MUST hang up and wait for you to return call when you are in better location.
And I do call safety departments of goofball steering wheel holders. I am a professional driver and have no tolerance for thoose steering wheel holdin Billy Big Riggers that are just in it for a buck.
Hey Jim i cant keep one log book straight much less tryin to keep 2 id just hand Barney one bullet the wrong one   :? :? :?

Walt, then you understand why when you called me on my way to The Tug last year you ended up talking to Eugene. Driving in heavy traffic in a strange location and looking for a turn off is all an old geezer like me can handle at one time.

I think it catches up with most of the guys that try to keep 2. Eventually they make some mistake that gets them caught.

I am on my 3rd touring motorcycle with 100,000 miles on it so I have learned to try and make eye contact with other drivers, for my safety. You would not believe how many people use phones while operating a vehicle. I am especially watchful when close to younger drivers because it seems most think more of the phone than driving safely.
