Buzz Saw / Cordwood Saw

When I was Restoring my 1950's Cordwood saw I spent a lot of time searching for a Plan for a Blade Shield to make it "Just a Little Bit Safer" Here's what I came up with, hope it helps someone else who may be working on one. These are Great Old Implements and they make easy work of Cutting Firewood but they are Unforgiving and Must Be respected. Good Luck and Stay Safe.

One Other Thing, Along the Lines of Safety with the Buzzsaw that I Rigged Up since making the videos is a Toggle Kill Switch on the left side, BOTTOM of the table, (So it won't be accidentally hit ) very easy to get to to flip off , wired to the Kill switch on the Tractor Magneto. The Blade obviously not Will NOT STOP Imediately until the Built up Kinetic Energy is exhausted but it will loose it's Power (the Tractor) source and will stop Much Quicker if and when (God Forbid) it hits anything......Hope I never have to use it!!!!!
You can Never Make a Buzzsaw "Safe" but you can make it "Just a Little safer" .......

I especially like the table extension, on the outside of the blade. Biggest problem, when cutting alone, is the wood piling up, under the blade. The extension dumps the cut piece back, away from the blade. I plan to fabricate one, for my saw. Ed

Just finished making my table extension. I sloped it slightly, away from the blade, to drop the wood farther away from my feet. Haven't tried it, yet. Started to rain, and will rain, tomorrow. NO pictures, I don't do pictures. Ed

Ed, The Extention Table is really Great......now, to take it one step further, when i Cut wood I use 2 cinder Blocks with a Piece of Plywood to make a sloping ramp on the ground for the cut pieces to land on and roll away safely. I just did this as a test & it works very well. I am going to build a sloping platform with wheels that I can move around to use with the saw.
I use this saw a lot & I am Allways looking for small ways to make the use of My Buzzsaw a little safer.
