Tractor Safety

Postby Peter Person » Wed Apr 10, 2013 1:40 pm

...another story about a tractor flipping over backwards while trying to pull a stump.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/10/17689146-teen-daughters-find-strength-to-lift-3000-pound-tractor-off-father#comments

Several years ago there was a post on the forum where Jim Becker provided some calculations as to how quick you go from horizontal to vertical on a tractor.

Instead of nicknaming the tractor "Satan", why don't they nickname the operator. I can think of one or two..."Blessed" would be one that comes to mind. :?

Tractor Safety

Much has been written on this forum about proper tractor operation and safety. Here is a story of a very lucky dad being saved by the quick action of his two daughtes. Remember, when pulling on immovable objects like stumps, always attach your chain to the lowest possible rear setting of your factory installed drawbar.

I saw this last night, and watched the video. This morning I was at the hospital waiting for the nurse in the Lipid Lowering Clinic .. Sharon was a bit behind.. and what was on Kelly & Michael :?: :?: :?: Yup, you guessed it -- the girls and their Dad. Seems they were quite impressed with the girls saving their Dad - and of course the required jokes about kids and adrenaline. The point was made though that accidents happen in the blink of an eye.
