Archery SeasonWell archery season is just around the corner. Opens Sept 10th here in Georgia. Just wanted to take the time to wish all of the hunters out there much luck this season and be safe!

Re: Archery SeasonThey're opening our early this year but I can't remember the date, just remember it being when it's way to hot to be in the woods yet. Going to need to depend on food plots this years since whole grain corn has doubled in price.

Re: Archery SeasonYeah if it keeps up, gonna be a hot first part of the season here. Baiting is legal in south Ga but not allowed to do it up here where I am. Got my food plots planted but they have not got any rain on them yet, so they are pretty much just plowed fields right now. However, I do have a small pea patch planted at the edge of a thicket and they are close to blooming. May be a hot spot if they just will put peas on.

Re: Archery SeasonMan, deer hunting in Sept? Sounds like Christmas in July....just not right.
Good luck Georgia Boy. Won't get into my stand until late October. My other addiction...www.thunderboltskirun.com/militaria
Re: Archery SeasonRode my Cub back to check my Trail Cam and found a dead 6 pt. about 50 yards from my camera. I have had my camera out since July and have only a few pictures of deer and no bucks. Don't look like this year will be any different than last.

Re: Archery SeasonWhat's your guess Rick on the buck, Black Tongue ?
Had a round of that here a couple years ago and it really took a toll on them. No mass in the woods the year after that so the numbers are down to about 1/4 now. DNR just opened 2 weeks of season in Sept for bow and muzzle loading and regular bow season will open Oct. 1st ( 2 weeks early ) I guess they want to wipe out what's left of them this year.... Oh ya, no mass again this Fall ![]() Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Ben Franklin
Re: Archery SeasonMy guess is Black Tongue, Blue Tongue what ever it is. We had a big die off last year and I'm guessing it's the same thing again. I e-mailed the DNR about the dead buck, hoping they might send out a Field Agent to have a look but never heard back from them.I think the DNR wants all the deer to die and convert the deer hunters to turkey hunters. You know, anything to make the auto insurance companies happy.

Re: Archery SeasonWe haven't had any blue tongue in several years here. Had a big die off about 10 years ago. I was reading on David Blanton's blogg where they had a huge die off on the Milk River this year due to blue tongue. He said that they had lost about 70% of the deer heard there between all the flooding and the blue tongue outbreak.
