Grubs

Anyone have any advice on getting rid of grubs. I planted potatoes on new tilled field Sunday and grubs were plentiful. My fields don't have them but across the street they are abundant. I heard Mole-X kills earthworms and don't want that to happen. Worms aerate the soil nicely so I want them to stay...and don't want to lose the potatoes to grubs which I was told would happen.

I use grub x on the fields year round. it works wonders

I should have posted that I was worried about killing earthworm with Grub-X not Mole-X. I had grubs and moles on my mind when I posted. Moles eat grubs. I think grub-x kills off earthworms.

We only planted 50 pounds of potato sets so it shouldn't be too costly to kill them off with your suggestions if Merit and Mach II are available locally. Never really had to use pest control before to protect my vegetables other than fencing to keep my other pests out...which would be my tenacious sheep.
I do have a family of woodchucks living under a pile of granite in the back stretch of field and they seem to be coming down and eating flowering bulbs. I'd like to see them go without killing them. Any ideas about that?

the only way to get rid of ground hogs is to kill them. kill them now, they only multiply and they do that fast

You might try a ground hog hating dog to get rid of them. Humm, I guess that the same idea.

I would like to offer my ground hog shooting services to any one inside reasonable driving distance for gas money. Have Ruger Varment rifle in 220 Swift can travel. And deer as well (with the proper permits of course).

They're in the pasture with the sheep so I keep dogs out. I'll probably trap them and relocate them. If that fails, my neighbor
said he shoot them.

For woodchucks I just got rid of a den by directing the exhaust of my cub through 2 hoses into their 2 obviously newly excavated holes. Stuck the hoses way in there, covered up hole with their own diggings. Your truck exhaust will work fine too. Make sure you find all the entrances to the network. Mid-day is a good time to do the dasterdly deed.

Trap and relocate??? You are kidding me right? Where are you going to relocate them to a place where someone you hate lives?

But really, Those guys are nasty in attitude and other wise, they will tear you up if cornered I have seen them mess up a slow dog.

I trapped one before and it was pretty mean. I've been in a enough trouble that I prefer to stay away from guns. Last thing I need is my neighbor who has called the fire department on me for my fire pit burning aboout 20 times and and the police about 3 times for various things to get her you know what in a bunch and call them again. I've trapped skunks lots of times and I let them go up the street where the nearest house is a long ways away. I just mentioned the woodchuck problem because I wanted an easy remedy for making them go away. My neighbor has a high powered pellet gun he bought because I had a fox kill 28 chickens in two days. Headless chickens everywhere. So like I said he volunteered to do the shooting if I can't make them go away with other means. Thanks for reminding me how nasty the get, I almost started moving the rock pile by hand. Good thing I didn't.

Theres your answer! Do a drive by ground hogging! Catch the nasty bugger and toss him in the neighbors yard. Then deny everything. Maybe you will get lucky and he will go in through her cat flap.

Mark, my neighbor lives next door and I was hoping that I could just get them to go over there!! That's why I didn't want to shoot them or trap them just wanted a way to ease them across the property line...hehe
