I have started using my new cobbler potatoes and the insides have brown areas. Does anyone know what causes this?? We had a wet spring and the ground was soggy for lenghts of time. Could this be the cause?? Other than the appearance, are they alright to eat?? Thanks for any info.

Hollow heart caused by the spud growing too fast,--like carrots splittin open, rapid weather changes are also a big factor!
They are perfectly safe to eat, just cut the brown area out! thanks; sonny

Thanks for the fast replys. Mine have hollow areas, but also have brown areas in about half of the potato. Hope our later varieties will not have this condition.

Some varieties are more prone to have this condition than others too, I have noticed, planting time is also a factor! thanks; sonny
