potatoesI have started using my new cobbler potatoes and the insides have brown areas. Does anyone know what causes this?? We had a wet spring and the ground was soggy for lenghts of time. Could this be the cause?? Other than the appearance, are they alright to eat?? Thanks for any info.
Re: potatoesHollow heart caused by the spud growing too fast,--like carrots splittin open, rapid weather changes are also a big factor!
They are perfectly safe to eat, just cut the brown area out! thanks; sonny
Re: potatoesThanks for the fast replys. Mine have hollow areas, but also have brown areas in about half of the potato. Hope our later varieties will not have this condition.
Re: potatoesSome varieties are more prone to have this condition than others too, I have noticed, planting time is also a factor! thanks; sonny
