Unfortunately a weed-n- feed product is one of the most misused products around. It contains a chemical that prevents germination of certain annual grasses. It must be used on turf grass at a precise time. Once it is applied in the spring those clippings should not be used for mulch. (broken record) read and understand the label! And don't let the kid at the big box store do your thinking for you.

I should have mentioned that too. The first cutting after chemical spread is composted and not used till the following year.
