spell checker

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Wed Mar 07, 2018 12:23 pm

My typing is so bad that even my spell checker program has trouble at times figuring out what the word is supposed to be.

Yup. Me to. When the computer doesn't recognize my word, I have to do a Google search to find one that looks like what I want.
I have an excuse. CRS.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in this. Sometimes I have to rewrite a sentence or two just so I can say what I want without the word I can't spell.

I feel I've been successful if I can get close enough to a word that spell check can determine what I want to use. Some times it takes several attempts before that happens....

Just remember, spell checkers don't know if you meant there, they're, or their, or if you meant our, are, or or, or (a lot of "or") if you meant ate, eight, or if you meant since or sense, or if you meant you're or your, etc. Some programs have grammar checks, but not all software or apps do. It's amazing that even college grads can't figure out what is the correct word for the sentence.

Not really, if their specialty is not English, they concentrate on their field, and do not remember all the grammar rules. Especially as they get older. I am a prime ensample of that. :x

Then there are the times I purposely miss spell a word because spell checker didn't find any, so I wondered if it was working. :D
