Cole and I went and put corn out yesterday and he wanted to take his toy rifle. I told him I better never see a real gun like that, lol.

I killed this 13 pointer in 2003 with a compound bow. A guy I know found a shed antler off of him the year before. His son missed this deer that year with a muzzle loader. The whole family was tore up that I got the deer. When I got the deer back from the taxidermist his son brought the shed antler over and let me see it and he took it back to his dad. I did a welding job for his dad yesterday (15 years later) and ask him about the shed antler. He got it and gave it it to me. That sure was nice of him!

When I shot this deer he scored 165 1/8 non typical. The state record for a bow non typical was 166 1/8. The record has since been broken more than once and this deer sits at #6 in the state. It is a once in a lifetime deer.

That was nice for him to give you the shed. I can see why you had him mounted; very nice!

When I killed the 13 pointer in 2003 with a bow, the man who had the shed antler (gave it to me last week after 15 years), his son had pictures of this deer that a mutual friend told me about the night I killed the deer. I text the man who had the pictures last week and ask if there was any chance he still had the pictures. I forgot about it and he text me yesterday and said I finally found them. These pictures start when this deer was a 2 1/2 year old 8 point and the last ones are as a 4 1/2 year old 11 point in 2002 and that one side is the shed antler he gave me. It’s proof if you let them go they grow. I killed the deer at 5 1/2 years old and that is a rarity around here for deer to get that old or that big because me and everyone else will shoot a decent 8 pointer.
