We have an Artist here, named Wyland, who is a favourite of mine. He has been traveling the US, and some other countries, including, I think, Australia, painting murals. His subject matter is marine life -- frequently Whales.
Here is a link to an index of all of his "whaling walls":

There is a particularly beautiful one in Wildwood, NJ, that I have seen many times.
All the best,
Tom

David,
I saw a gray whale off the coast of Maine. It was an almost spiritual event. Even my late wife appreciated it, although she was quite seasick.
Are you familiar with D.H. Lawrence's "Whales Weep Not"?

I would have posted the poem, but perhaps it's a little too risque for mixed company, even though it's about whales, and not people.
To my mind, it's culture, but in America, closed-mindedness about some things is the prevailing attitude these days.
All the best,
Tom
