Correct Police

Postby Phillip W. Lenke » Fri Mar 31, 2006 6:38 am

This is to be a light hearted post.
I have been on the forum now for about a year. :)

Met many fine folks.
I hear of the correct police as a mystery group :?
How many members are there , is there a Commisioner, Capt, etc.
I don't consider myself as a purist however ,I do feel that MY cub should look as close to the original condition as possible.(My take) grill, lights. The things that I change on my cub, makes it original to me.
I do notice when it isn't original. Am I a member?

The expression "Correct Police" has me thinking words that can not be used in polite company. Many of the thoughts are probably physical impossibilities any way.

Many of us are "under cover" members, or just maybe "closet" member, and only come out when we see one being sold on Ebay as accurately or fullly "restored".

Good point John. I think the CP are here to enforce misrepresentations. My feeling is: if a part was substituted during the life of trhe tractor to keep it operating, then it is ok (hack jobs are a different story) But if you are peddling a restored authentic piece....then ity should be......just that. My 47 Cub has newer parts eg: casting dates, it seems to be original, but those castings dont jive with the S/N. Mine also has a Zenith carb...not original either ( IH carb not commercially available) so, i do not market it as original. Some may look original, or are represented that way thats when the CP come out and make the observation.

I have to agree with John and offer this:

This is yet ANOTHER thing that I LOVE about this forum...

I am also involved with Theatre Pipe Organs, and there has always been contentious debates between the "correct police" in the Theatre Organ World and the "Customizers".

I love to listen to an original 10 ranker (pipe organ speak) but I also love to listen to a huge "Frankenstein" organ made up of the pieces parts of many different organs.

In my opinion, both have a place in the world and give enjoyment to their owners...

It seems that the same is true between the organ world and the Farmall Cub World... Everyone has their own opinion, but allows the next person to enjoy things their way!

I have yet to see a huge "flame war" on this site...how great is that!

Talk to you later!

Gotta love that emblem on the grille! Looks like it came off an IH truck of the mid-60's/early 70's. Thanks for the photos...
