Yes, this one has been making its way across the internet for a year now, and has been solidly discredited as having come from Andy Rooney. Kind of like the one about Mister Rogers serving in Vietnam as a Marine Sniper. Deep down I'd like to believe that Mister Rogers took out NVA officers at 100 yards, but it just didn't happen.
Now, the one about Mikey from Life Cereal eating Pop Rocks and Coke and then kicking the bucket...that's true!

I took that as the joke I thought you meant, but in case you are serious.

No, I was indeed joking. Knowing this strory to be an urban legend, several years ago in my high school chemistry class I asked for a volunteer and gave him a bag of Pop Rocks and a warm Coke. I asked him to sit in front of the class and place a handful of Pop Rocks in his mouth and then drink some Coke. He didn't die, but he did spew out a foamy pink stream of Coke and Pop Rocks all over the floor, kind of like mixing baking soda and vinegar. We all had a good laugh.
The next day I was in the cafeteria and saw this same kid in line waiting to buy his lunch. Well, all of a sudden he passes out right there in front of everybody. I thought, "Holy cow! It does work!" Turns out it was just a case of dehydration.
