POP goes tire....goes the septic tank on the camper

Postby John(videodoc) » Sun Jun 25, 2006 7:30 pm

Got back from my FIRST Cub fest, had a great time (THANKS GENE AND FAMILY :!: :!: :!: ) The Kids and i had a great time. But my camper didnt. A tire blew, 60 miles from home on the way there, but that didnt stop me :!: Even though the septic tank is now gonna be added to the junk pile, and insurance man, aint gonna be happy, we are. The tread flopped around enough to rip off the lines right outta of the tank.

Even had to have Donny and Rick help get the slide out to move back in, don't know whats up with that. Other than where the tire was hitting the floor, is bowed somewhat. Hey, maybe the insurance company will total the camper, so i can get a new camper and a cub. :D

I was thinking awe sh**, because it was the shi**er , and shower tanks that got knocked out. First words in my head when i realized i blew a tire, was awe sh**, then i found out, it was literally, fortunatly i did before i got down on the ground to inspect the damage. John

The good news is insurance will cover the damage, $50 deductible. The bad news, the slide out will have to come off, as the sub floor has been destroyed. The estimate will take 3-4 days alone to calculate. That is starting to sound expensive.

Well......

6 weeks to get the estimate done :(
6 more weeks to get the repairs done :(
and $4000.00 later, i was able to pick up the camper today.

Let's see...

$150 for gas round trip to cubfest 2006
$4000 for repairs to camper damaged enroute to cubfest 2006
a weekend spent with friends and family........ priceless :D

The good news is that the insurance company paid for the replacement for the camper awning that was damaged in Thursday's storm before you arrived. :D :D :D :D No deductable! The awning was less than 2 years old.

Insurance paid all but $100. sure am glad i got that extra coverage. There was a couple other things i had done as well, that needed attention, not part of the tire blowing. So my part came to $250. Did get a new pump and motor for the slide out of the deal, so we shouldnt have to push it in next time. :D

Everything works as it should except the 12volt convertor, $500 to remove and replace. No way to say the tire blowing caused that  So will be limited to using the slide out, only where we can have 110vac available, is the only restriction not having that option, as it doesnt have enough umphhhhh to push out or pull in slide out on 8.4 vdc. I figure i could do better things with $500.

How about getting an inverter for your tow vehicle? Should be a lot cheaper than $500.
